In his 1979 studio album Slow Train Coming, Boy Dylan wrote and sang a song called "Gotta Serve Somebody." He says it doesn't matter who we are or what we do in our lives, we are going to have to serve somebody: "It may be the devil or it may be the Lord..."
I recently discovered that, even though we all individually need to make a decision to choose Christ as our Lord and savior or to deny Him, we may all reap the benefits or suffer the consequences of our behaviors and choices on this earth collectively, not regarding our personal hope of heaven, but regarding our time here on earth. Decisions for change take place in the home, one person at a time but, a national or global healing will require the whole village to take action.
One of my life scriptures has become very popular as of late: 2 Chronicles 7:14-15. My son and I stopped what we were doing every night for months at 7:14 PM and prayed together along with many concerned people across America and Canada keeping in mind this scripture:
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place." May it be so.
